Thalapathy Vijay’s starrer Leo has broken huge records at the box office even before seeing its big release. Lokesh Kanagaraj’s guide was left with Pathaan and Jawan with his First Day reservations. As the numbers crossed 100 million in the opening weekend, it became the fourth Indian film to achieve the milestone. Scroll down to find out more!
Leo is a Tamil action thriller that also stars Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Priya Anand in pivotal roles. After Kaithi and Vikram, this is the third film in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. Also known as Thalapathy 67, this film has been spreading magic all over the world with humungous collections in its kitty.
The latest we hear is that Leo has crossed 100 crores in advance bookings for the opening week. This is indeed a feat, only three Indian films have achieved this milestone at the domestic box office – Baahubali 2, KGF 2, and RRR.
While fans couldn’t keep quiet when Thalapathy Vijay hit the theatres, the initial reviews from critics and audiences were mixed. Many, in fact, are scoffing at the news and expressing their dismay on social media. Only time will tell if Leo can stand the test of time or if it will sit down due to bad word of mouth!
As for the foreign market, Leo is expected to be the second biggest risk. He says he will leave behind RRR $8.55 million opening landing at #2 after Baahubali 2’s $10.25 million.
Leo was released in theaters worldwide on October 19, 2023.
