Sooraj Barjatya, who earlier gave a great song with Madhuri Dixit – Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! – wanted the actress to be a part of Hum Saath Saath Hain. Madhuri, spilling the beans right here, revealed that Suraj Barjatya asked her, “What role should I cast in this film?” Considering the script and timing of the events, he immediately rejected the roles of Sonali Bendre and Karisma Kapoor as he felt that they would be a departure from his previous film (HAHK) and his director. He was interested in Tabu’s role until he found a surprising twist.
In an earlier interview with Rediff.com, Madhuri Dixit said that Sooraj Barjatya was in trouble, and after many discussions, the producers came to the conclusion that he should play the main Bahu with Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan’s bhabhi, the role of Sadhna. . However, Madhuri said that she finds it difficult to form a devar-bhabhi relationship with Salman after playing her love interest in Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! She said that what made her feel uncomfortable was when Khan held Sadhna’s feet and hugged her. “So there should be a bhabhi-devar feeling between the two. But if you put me in Tabu’s place and see Salman touching my feet… And I think it’s right… because of HAHK, which was a love story between me and Salman, ” Madhuri said.
