Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo Opens Well In Hindi At The Box Office (Image Credit: IMDB & Youtube)
Thalapathy Vijay has become a beast at the Box Office, with Lep registering the biggest opening in Hindi and Tamil film in 2023. Helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film opened on 2.85 million in Hindi. The film is expected to open in different ways 1-1.5 millionbut it exceeded expectations by a huge leap.
This number comes at a time when Vijay’s film has not released in National Cinema chain PVR, Cinepolis, and INOX. This has become his biggest opening in Hindi, beating his previous releases, Varisu and Beast.
While sitting atop Kollywood’s biggest Hindi opening of 2023, he has dropped Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 to take the spot. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is the biggest opener of Kollywood in Hindi in 2023 and 2.18 million opening day.
After Ponniyin Selvan 2 stopped Varisu and 0.80 million opening with Rajinikanth, and opening for 0.35 million, stood in line. With the upcoming Dussehra weekend, the film is expected to do well.
Although National Cinema Channels is not releasing Leo in Hindi due to the OTT rule of the 8th week, the film has managed to ring a bell among the single-minded audience which may see an increase over the weekend. However, Tiger Shroff’s Ganapath will be the obvious choice.
But if Thalapathy Vijay manages to generate good numbers at the Hindi Box Office despite Ganapath’s struggles, then it will be a historic change to be welcomed.
Apart from Vijay, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Sarja as the antagonists Antony Das and Harold Das, who are after the life of Leo Das, but Parthiban, who also played with the Master star, is wrong as Leo. What follows after that is a story with a twist and a fight to kill the drug weapon.
The film, which also starred Trisha Krishnan and Priya Anand, is touted to be a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, breaking away from previous films directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj-Kaithi and Vikram.
Kaithi stars Karthi in the lead, and Vikram stars Kamal Haasan. It was also speculated that Vikram Suriya’s villain, who played Rolex in the film, will have a much-awaited face-off with Thalapathy Vijay in Leo. However, all these speculations were put to rest when the film was released.
