When asked about their niece Gia Giudice during a panel discussion at BravoCon 2023 in Las Vegas, Melissa and Joe Gorga were embarrassed.
During the “In a Jersey State of Mind” panel discussion attended by Heavy, the “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” couple dodged a fan question about rumors that Teresa Giudice’s daughter Gia, 22, will get more airtime on the next season Bravo reality show, and could potentially become a Real Housewife in the future.
After the Gorgas were asked about Gia’s Real Housewives potential, they were at a loss for words.
“I haven’t heard that,” Melissa replied. “I don’t know what to think about it, I don’t know.”
“It’s new to me, so I don’t know,” Joe chimed in.
“We haven’t heard that yet,” Melissa repeated. “You have to be married first, right?” She added the title “Housewives.”
To awkward laughter from the audience, the host said, “That’s a strange answer.”
The Gorgas have been estranged from Teresa and her daughters since skipping Teresa’s wedding to Louie Ruelas in August 2022.
Andy Cohen said Gia Giudice has what it takes to be a future Real Housewives star.
It was actually Bravo host Andy Cohen who brought up Gia’s contributions to the Real Housewives franchise. While speaking at the “Ask Andy” panel at Bravo Fanfest, the “Watch What Happens Live” host noted that the 2023 college graduate has what it takes to be a Housewives star.
“Listen, you’re going to see a lot more Gia this year,” Andy told the crowd, according to People magazine.
He also referenced Gia’s collaboration with fashion company Shein and a campaign she did with her mother and sisters for SheinXGiudiceGirls.
“I love Gia,” Cohen said. “I love Teresa’s campaign with the girls [and I] texted her after the ad. This is so incredible considering Teresa’s first episode consisted of her taking photos of them and wanting to perform them. Here they are in an ad, I thought that was really cool.”
On the very first RHONJ episode, “Thicker than Water,” Teresa’s young daughters Gia, Gabriella and Milania posed for photos. “Make it great!” Teresa gave them instructions. “Assume a pose. Model, Model1”
The RHONJ star then took 8-year-old Gia to dance class and said she was looking for acting and modeling agencies in New York City for her. “She’s just a natural,” Teres said of her oldest daughter. “I’m just so proud of her and she absolutely has what it takes.”
On Mother’s Day 2023, Gia graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in criminal justice. She told BravoTV.com that she wanted to go to law school next.
In addition to Gia, Teresa shares Gabriella, Milania and Audriana with her ex-husband Joe Giudice.
Gia Giudice got more screen time during RHONJ season 12
Gia Giudice has been a standout on RHONJ since the beginning – who can forget her now-viral performance of “Wakin’ Up in the Morning” in Season 3. But as she got older, she became more vocal about it. In Season 12, Gia, then 20, called out her uncle Joe Gorga for talking about her father, Joe Giudice. She also told her godfather that she was “done” with him talking to her disrespectfully.
She later criticized her uncle for posting a video of him hugging her father during a trip to the Bahamas. “This is honestly weird knowing you weren’t even with him for five minutes and we can ask someone to take a video of the interaction,” Gia wrote on Instagram. “In the meantime, all you did was talk so badly about my father. You’re such an opportunist that you’re taking this unique opportunity to see my father and using it for a job.”
According to The Daily Mail, Joe Gorga responded to his niece with, “We both said terrible things about each other.” It was a beautiful moment. We have a lot of history. Drive out hatred from your heart.”
