DeWalt’s 240V level-2 charger, like any home EV charger, can be installed in your electrical system by an electrician to act as the hub for your EV. This mount is CSA approved for both indoor and outdoor use, so even if you don’t have a garage, it’s safe to mount outside the walls of your home. Don’t worry about rain or strong winds, because the mount has an IP66 waterproof rating.
The mount comes pre-strung with a 25-foot high-grade power cord terminated in a NEMA 14-50 plug. This plug can deliver up to 40 Amps or about 36 miles per hour. If your home electrical grid is a little weird, you can adjust the current to 12 Amps. The front of the charger has a simple LCD screen, giving you regular updates on its health and charging status. It also works with the DeWalt EV Charger app, which you can use to monitor your current charging status, monitor your energy usage, and schedule custom settings.
The DeWalt charger is compatible with all SAE J1772 electric vehicles, although a separate adapter is also available for Tesla ports. This means you can use the charger with almost any EV on the market, whether it’s from Ford, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, or any of the automotive giants.
The DeWalt EV charger is available now from Home Depot for $799.97.
