Week 7 of “Dancing with the Stars” brought eight performances inspired by iconic music videos. Paula Abdul joined judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli and all celebrities had to perform two dances each before being eliminated.

Which team won the competition and which celebrities topped the Dancing with the Stars rankings? After the results were announced, the eliminated pro decided to be blunt. “It stings,” the pro admitted, adding that the eliminated star shouldn’t be the one to go home this week.

The DWTS contestants gave fans some great performances

The eight individual performances received numerous rave reviews from the “Dancing with the Stars” jury. However, there were also some criticisms, especially considering how far the celebrities are into season 32 at this point.

Lele Pons and Brandon Armstrong performed a salsa to Shakira’s “Whenever, Wherever.” The judges all had great feedback for the couple, especially Inaba. Hough said Pons managed to imitate Shakira. Her overall score was 33 out of 40, including a 9 from Inaba.

Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov danced the Cha Cha to “I’m a Slave 4 U” by Britney Spears. Tonioli was thrilled with the performance and Inaba said everything about the dance was “just right.” Abdul gave the couple a 10 and the other judges all gave it 9s, giving the couple an overall score of 37 out of 40.

Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold played jazz to the *NSYNC song “It’s Gonna Be Me.” The couple even had former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Lance Bass stop by to give practical instructions as they rehearsed their routine. Ultimately, the judges found some problems, although they generally enjoyed watching Jowsey’s performance. All four gave a grade of 6. The couple’s overall score was 24 out of 40.

Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach performed a jazz routine to “Take on Me” by a-ha. Karagach realized she had sprained her ankle last week, so Koko Iwasaki helped with rehearsals. Inaba admitted she wasn’t thrilled, and Hough felt the same way. Abdul raved about the dance and Tonioli also gave positive feedback. They received a score of 35 out of 40. Abdul gave the duo a 10 and Tonioli gave them a 9, while the other two rated the dance an 8.

Hannigan & Farber impressed the jury

Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber used Christina Aguilera’s “Candyman” for a quickstep performance. Hough told Hannigan it was her best performance yet, and Abdul felt she was triumphant. Both Tonioli and Inaba also had high praise for Hannigan. The couple’s overall score was 33 out of 40, with Abdul giving them a 9.

Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy danced a jazz number to “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani. Abdul said they were the most provocative and surprising partnership this season. Inaba loved that they saw a darker and funkier Gomez. The couple scored 34 out of 40.

Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvintsev performed a jazz routine to “All For You” by Janet Jackson. Hough noted that expectations are high at this stage of the competition. He praised Lawson but added that they wanted a little more precision. Abdul told Lawson that if she could develop her powers a bit more, she could be a leading candidate to win the Mirrorball trophy. The duo’s overall score was 32 out of 40.

Barry Williams and Peta Murgatroyd had the quickstep and used “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John. Hough pointed out some issues but shared that he loved watching Williams perform. Abdul agreed and told Williams he was a joy and joy to watch. The couple received 28 out of 40 points.

Team Youn’n Style performed first and the judges were thrilled. Hough jumped on the judges’ table to praise them, and Inaba was amazed by the group’s teamwork. Her performance received the maximum score of 40 points.

Team 4 Everyone danced second and at the end all four judges were standing. Hough noted that this team had moments where it was much cleaner than the other team. Inaba pointed out some issues with the couples dancing together and the audience booed them. The group received a 10 from Abdul and a 9 from the others, for a total score of 37 out of 40.

The couple eliminated in week 7 of DWTS was…

After all performances were completed, there was a tie at the top of the leaderboard. Both Madix and Pashkov and Gomez and Chmerkovskiy received a total score of 74 out of 80 points. Pons and Armstrong were just one point behind, Lawson and Chigvintsev were one point below.

At the bottom of the leaderboard were Jowsey and Arnold, who achieved a total of 64 out of 80 points. Just above them were Williams and Murgatroyd with 65 points

Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough went through the process with the eight couples to find out which were safe and which were in danger. It came down to Lawson and Chigvintsev, Williams and Murgatroyd, and Pons and Armstrong, all of whom were in danger of elimination.

Pons and Armstrong will not continue their bid to win the Mirrorball Trophy on Season 32 of Dancing with the Stars.
