Although Kangana often writes and talks about the possibility of another Tanu-Manu film, the two stars coming together has definitely left their fans excited. The pooja ceremony has taken place, and the two stars have come together eight years after their blockbuster film Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan, came together as Tanuja Trivedi aka Tanu and Manoj Kumar Sharma aka Manu in 2011 for Tanu Weds Manu. Directed by Aanand L Rai, the film opened at the box office with a list of 3.5 million on day 1 and finished the collection 35 million, have a good reputation. This impressed the filmmaker to bring them together in the sequel Tanu Weds Manu Returns, which was a sequel in every sense!
TWMR created chaos at the box office. The film collected 8.85 crore on its opening day but survived a successful run of 6 weeks. It collected 152 million at the box office, it could become the fourth highest grosser of 2015 after Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and Bajirao Mastani. In fact, the film beat Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale and Baahubali: The Beginning (Hindi), which collected. 148 million and 120 million in the same year.
But what if we tell you that Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan starrer film, even today, stands invincible in front of biggies like Pathaan and Jawan, who have collected. 500+ million and 600+ million at the Box Office, respectively?
Tanu Weds Manu Returns earned an unprecedented profit in 2015, which is still higher than the profit earned by Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which registered a profit of Rs. 117.28%and Jawan, who registered the benefit of 113.47%.
Aanand L Rai’s film, which was made on a limited budget 31 millionregistered the benefit of 390%, getting blockbuster status. So, in terms of value, it still stands at a better place than Pathaan and Jawan, both of which are hits.
