Perhaps the most important piece of equipment in any camping kit is a tent that is easy to set up and take down, packs down to a compact and lightweight package, and keeps you and your gear warm and dry at night. One tent that accomplishes this is the Lynx 2 people tent from Alps Mountaineering.
The Lynx comes in three colors: the blue/green and gray/navy colors sell for $124.99 at Amazon, and the clay/rust combination (pictured above) costs $171.52.
This tent has a double pole design and comes with two aluminum folding poles for connection. It has two doors and mesh windows at each end.
The Lynx 2 comes with a separate rain fly, aluminum poles, and guy ropes to secure the fly. The feet when installed are 60 inches by 90 inches and the length of the tent is 46 inches.
Gearlab rated the Lynx two people 8 out of 10 overall, praising its size and ease of use but noting that it was about six pounds heavier. In their review, Gearlab also noted that the Lynx’s windows made it easy for others to see inside, especially when the lights were on.
I personally had a Lynx 2 for almost ten years, spending over 100 nights in it. I found that it was easy to throw and break, and the tips worked hard, keeping me and my dogs dry in heavy rain. I also found a Lynx large enough to accommodate two people, a large dog, and equipment.
