ICE 3, also known as Intercity Express 3, was developed by Nokia and is part of a large family of trains that run throughout Europe. The power behind the train comes from 16 different electric motors arranged in 8 cars, which provide 11,000 horsepower. The ICE 3 variant travels around the world, with trains operating in several countries including the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, China, and Russia, among others.
ICE 3 trains usually run at 205mph, but they have one exception. On a line in Germany between Cologne and Frankfurt, speeds are allowed to exceed 210mph if the train is delayed. This 110-kilometer section, which used to take two and a half hours to travel by old trains, can now be covered in one hour using the highly modified ICE 3 models.
